For the past 20 years, the FACES Summer Medical Academy (FSMA) has provided short-term, immersive summer experiences designed to expose high school students to the practice of medicine. The FSMA is open to any high school student, regardless of background or school.
The FSMA offers high school students ages 15+ in-depth, hands-on opportunities to explore their interests in health, clinical skills, and the art of medicine. Whether you’re set on a medical career, or still exploring your options, the FSMA program will expose you to new ideas, mentors, and other teens who have similar interests. If spending the summer learning how to save lives, respond to crisis situations, explore potential diagnosis and treatment plans for a patient, and meeting professionals in the field sound exciting to you, we highly recommend the FSMA program.

Students’ Experiences
I would recommend FACES Summer Medical Academy to a friend because…
“You get to experience a glimpse into real healthcare work and the people you interact with (students, group leaders, guest speakers) are all very knowledgeable and passionate about medicine.” -FSMA Student, Block 1, 2, and 3
“You get to interact with patients, specialists, and more as you will gain critical skills you need in the medical field. Also if you do not know what you specifically want to do in the medical field you get to learn about a variety of careers.” -FSMA Student, Block 2
“You can really expose yourself to how things are done in the medical field while meeting active health professionals. You can ask questions and explore different fields you might be interested in.” -FSMA Student, Blocks 2 and 3
