Our SF FACES for the Future Program at John O’ Connell High School (JOCHS) was established in 2015 in partnership with the San Francisco Department of Public Health, the San Francisco Unified School District, the City and County of San Francisco, Department of Public Health, the University of California San Francisco, and San Francisco General Hospital.
The students in the SF FACES program are given the opportunity to be involved in 2-year rotating healthcare internships throughout these partnerships in the City of San Francisco. Aside from internships, the SF FACES program also supports the students’ entry into healthcare professions with workshops, academic support, college preparation, and wellness support.
Here is an inside look into a current internship taking place at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center (ZSFGH) with two of our SF FACES students, Samantha and Teierah.
Their internship consists of once-a-week visits to the Centralize Call Center at ZSFGH until May. Each day is filled with informational workshops given by the call center management and staff, as well as shadowing opportunities with the call center agents.
Thank you to the Centralized Call Center at ZSFGH for hosting internships for our SF FACES students, such as Samantha and Teierah (and many more to come)!
