Position Summary PHI is seeking a FACES for the Future Program Coordinator for the FACES for the Future Coalition. This position is located in the Albuquerque, NM.

FACES for the Future Coalition (www.facesforthefuture.org) is an innovative national health career pathway program designed to work with underserved high school students interested in careers in health, public health, mental and behavioral health, and global health. Originally founded in 1999 at Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland, the program has been replicated throughout California and is currently seeking to develop programs in other states. Our work at Public Health Institute includes new program development, providing technical assistance for existing FACES programs, curriculum development and overall program evaluation.

The FACES for the Future Coalition is developing a new program in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in partnership with multiple agencies. The FACES program will serve students enrolled in select schools within Albuquerque.

The FACES for the Future Coalition is looking for a Program Coordinator for the FACESprogram in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This person will be primarily responsible for the planning, coordination and supervision of daily operations. This includes implementation and supervision of clinical internship placements and rotations, academic support and mentoring, and coordination of the wellness program for students. The Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all students meet the program expectations regarding training, performance, rules and behavior. The Program Coordinator will work to guarantee that program materials are current and relevant, that operations run in a smooth and effective manner, and that open and regular communication exists with all program partners and stakeholders including health care professionals, health agency administration, school administration, teachers, students and families. The Program Coordinator will be based in Albuquerque and be trained and managed remotely by the FACES for the Future Program Manager at Public Health Institute in Oakland, California. The FACES for the Future Coalition will provide materials, fund raising support and program evaluation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains daily oversight and evaluation of FACES for the Future students.
  • Acts as consistent mentor and caring adult for FACES students.
  • Works with key stakeholders to develop, coordinate, maintain and evaluate work-based learning internships for FACES students. Establishes and maintains strong relationships with health professionals providing internship supervision.
  • Schedules, facilitates and teaches workshops for students focused on professional development, college preparation, wellness and other pertinent topics.
  • Communicates effectively with all stakeholders and partners, including families.
  • Works independently while cognizant of scope and boundaries of the Program Coordinator position.
  • Works in very close association with education partners, including being a regular presence in the classroom, co-developing curriculum as needed, and capacity building on-site.
  • Coordinates and participates in community outreach efforts of the FACES for the Future program, and attends all relevant meetings with stakeholders.
  • Coordinates FACES events including the Blue Coat Ceremony, Graduation, field trips and other events.
  • Participates in events at partner high schools designed to promote the Health and Behavioral Health Lab including, but not limited to, health fairs, recruitment events and community showcases.
  • Responsible for recruiting students, providing training to prepare for internships, and coordinating all necessary steps to on-board into work-based learning including health screenings, etc.
  • Works in tandem with the mission and goals of the FACES for the Future best practice program model.
  • Maintains and organizes adequate documentation, databases and all program materials, including, but not limited to, student information, curriculum, workshops and evaluation. Completes progress reports and updates.
  • Participates in FACES Coalition team meetings as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the FACES Program Manager & Program Director.
Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree and a combination of training and experience that could provide desired knowledge and skill set.
  • At least 3 year’s related experience.
  • Bi-lingual / Multi-lingual candidates highly preferred.
  • Experience with program development a plus.
  • General knowledge of current health care delivery systems, both hospital-based and community-based as well as general knowledge of careers and pathways for health, public health, mental and behavioral health, and global health.
  • Experience working with high school aged youth and in particular under-represented, high-risk youth populations in essential.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, problem solving, dependability and integrity.
  • Ability to exercise cultural competency and manage multiple types of relationships in professional, educational and outreach settings including moving effortlessly between relationships with students and families, educators and health professionals.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment and prioritize projects to meet deadlines. Must be flexible, adaptable and responsive to changing work priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point (Microsoft Office). Familiarity with Access is a plus.
  • Ability to take initiative toward improving the overall success of the program.
  • Familiarity with Albuquerque health and academic landscape a plus.
  • Must be community oriented and highly motivated. Experience working with and/or for non-profits organizations is helpful.
  • Must have available transportation and ability to commute to various locations other than the assigned location

This is an exempt position and the salary is commensurate with experience.
