This third webinar concludes our three-part Global Health Pathway Series. In partnership with Global Health Fellows Program (GHFP) II, these webinars are a continuation of FACES’ efforts to create viable pathways into careers in health care, public health and behavioral health. Working with GHFP-II, these webinars are providing increased access to global health career options to those currently underrepresented in the field who can provide the global health workforce with resilient, multilingual and culturally responsive future employees.
In this webinar, we had over 80 people tuning in. Most participants joined through watch parties held at their high schools – we had our FACES programs in Hayward, San Diego, Sacramento, and our recent addition, South Alameda County!
We hosted a career panel to show students the various options of careers within the global health field – along with the various paths toward this field too! Our career panel included:
Temitayo Ifafore MPH,
Health Workforce Technical Advisor and Global Health Fellow with USAID and Global Health Fellows Program II
“I was able to coordinate with a team of people from a number of different agencies and we were able to mobilize over $20 million to help Liberia over five years.”
Sylvie Rousseau,
Monitoring and Evaluation Officer with Caris Foundation International
“I knew I WANTED to do global health but COULD I actually do it? I learned I could do anything if I set my mind to it.”
Dr. Michael DeRosa MPH, PhD, PA-C,
Physician Assistant Department Chair at Samuel Merritt University
“Becoming a PA has allowed me the opportunity to practice medicine and doing global health work informed my teaching.”

And that concludes our Global Health Pathways Series! In total, we had an audience of over 170 attendees. About 80% of our participants were students of color and the majority came from low-income families – this touches our goal of bringing awareness of the global health field to underrepresented students. Check out the stats below:
Thank you to all who participated, another thank you to our amazing panelists, and lastly, thank you to GHFP-II for your partnership.
