On May 23rd, 2016, our San Francisco FACES scholars at John O’Connell High School were celebrated for completing all requirements of the program, as well as for their graduation from high school. This is the first cohort of scholars to complete this program in San Francisco.
The scholars were individually presented Certificates of Completion of the program in front of their friends and families, preceptors, teachers and FACES staff. The event started with a welcoming speech given by Dr. Tomas Magana MD, MA, FAAP, followed by speeches from two preceptors, Colleen Matthews, ASW, MSW, BSW, Richard Santana, RN, a speech from the high school principal Mark Alvarado and speeches from two of the scholars themselves.
We want to congratulate and thank the scholars for their commitment and hard work in the program this past year and wish them the best of luck as they move on in their secondary pathways towards a career in the health field! You guys did it!
We would also like to thank all the following for their generous support and commitment in making this program possible: All internship preceptors, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, San Francisco Department of Public Health, Laguna Honda Hospital, SFUSD, UCSF, John O’Connell High School
