Marquita Foster, FACES Class of 2004, graduated from San Francisco State University in 2009 with a BA in Psychology. For a time, Marquita worked at the Center for the Vulnerable Child at Children’s Hospital where she initially rotated as a FACES scholar and fortified her love of working with children. After college, she was introduced to the Montessori teaching method, and subsequently received her Early Childhood Education Teaching Credential in 2011. She has worked at a Montessori preschool for 3 years and was promoted to head teacher. She shares that she is “super excited about having my own classroom and all of the joys and challenges that come along with it.” Marquita plans to obtain a masters degree in Autism Spectrum Disorder or Montessori education. Marquita also shares that, “FACES has helped me in many ways. Through the program I developed confidence in myself as well as the motivation to be better student… I thank you all for guiding me in the right direction, without the help I received there I never would have made it to or through college.”
