Frederick Orejudos, FACES Oakland alum Class of 2008, completed his Licensed Vocational Nurse program and is currently working as a licensed LVN Charge Nurse in Oakland, CA. He ultimately plans to become a Registered Nurse or a Physician’s Assistant. He was fortunate enough to be part of FACES once again as a Student Advisor intern in the 2016 FACES Summer Medical Academy.
He is truly thankful and grateful to be part of a program like FACES. Growing up in Oakland, he knew that he had to take every opportunity that was offered and FACES was one of them. Being exposed to real life situations in a hospital setting helped him solidify his desire to want to have a career in the medical field at a young age.
Erick shares, “The best thing about being a part of FACES is that once you’ve completed the program, they don’t just leave you after, they will continue to be there for you and will continue to provide the necessary help that you need to help you reach your goal. Dr. Magaña is a person who truly cares about the youth. From the time I shook his hand at orientation day till now, it shows how he truly cares for his students, even after completing the program 8 years ago. I hope that this program will continue to grow and to continue making the necessary impacts in the youth because I was one of them who was impacted by FACES and it makes me so proud and happy to see how far the program has grown over the years and how widespread it has gotten.”
