Fram Kelly Saeteurn was a member of the inaugural FACES class and graduated from the FACES program in 2003. She attended Life Academy High School in Oakland, and graduated from the University of California, Davis with a degree in Psychology. Kelly shares that FACES opened her awareness about the need of diversity in the medical and social service fields. Kelly is currently a graduate student in the Master Counseling Psychology Program at Holy Names University.
Kelly states that, “I noticed that there was a lack of help in the social services field, especially with the rise of teen pregnancy in the Asian community. There was a lack of programs that could help meet the needs of the rising teen pregnancy in the Asian community. As of right now, I am where I want to be.” Kelly works at a non-profit agency, Brighter Beginnings – Early Head Start, as a Parent Child Educator, where she provides teen parents and families of infants (0-3 years) with support, information and education on infant and toddler development.”
Kelly feels that programs such as FACES for the Future are “important for youth because they help provide youth with the opportunity to see the potential they have in the health field.” She adds, “For the years that they are in the FACES program, it keeps them occupied in something that may change their life forever.”
“I know that I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to see the world of medicine and because of that, it has brought me to where I am today. I cannot say where I will be in the next ten years, but I do know that I am happy about where I am.”
