“My name is Melissa Renteria and I am an alumna of the University of California, Merced with a Bachelors of Art in Sociology and a minor in Public Health. Currently, I hold two positions at Breathe California of the Bay Area (BCBA) as the Marketing/Development Coordinator and Health Coordinator. I work on tobacco and asthma related issues and policies and develop marketing material. Previously, I provided a year of service with AmeriCorps VISTA for an organization assisting senior citizens live independently and individuals with HIV/AIDS as the Resource and Volunteer Coordinator.
I am deeply passionate about improving the quality of health for underserved communities and am in the process of applying to Master of Public Health programs with a focus on health policy and management.”
