FACES for the Future Coalition was one of many sponsors of the Safe Passages 3rd Annual Fundraiser & 21st Anniversary Celebration. The event took place on May 13th, 2016 at Scott’s Seafood Restaurant at Jack London Square, Oakland. Our FACES Founder Dr. Tomas Magana is also a part of the Board of Directors for Safe Passages.
Dr. Magana and the FACES Coalition staff were able to join in this celebratory event, enjoying a delicious lunch provided by Scott’s Seafood Restaurant, a beautiful opening performance, and inspirational speeches that promoted and advocated for underserved families and youth in Alameda County.
Safe Passages advocates for, researches, evaluates, develops and incubates culturally appropriate, cross-agency strategies designed to improve the lives of vulnerable populations, including youth at risk of dropping out of school, or becoming involved in gangs, encountering the Juvenile Justice system. For 20 years, Safe Passages has worked with public and private partners to strengthen the safety net for poor people within and across systems by maximizing and leveraging resources to implement strategies proven to reduce youth violence and level the playing field for marginalized students families and communities in Alameda County.
As an organization believing in the equity of youth and the importance of education, we are grateful to have attended this event! For more information on Safe Passages and the great work they do, click here.
